Want quieter / flexible filtration? Start with variable speed.

Adjustable output lets the pump run differently for everyday filtration and higher-flow pool tasks.

Spa, in-floor or high-flow duty? Start with the hydraulic requirement.

Some systems need more head or flow than a standard filtration pump. The connected equipment matters.

Send us a photo. We’ll work out what you have.

A clear photo of the pump label plus one wider shot of the equipment area is usually enough to start matching a replacement. No model hunting required.

Variable-speed or single-speed?

Choose the way the pump needs to work.

Horsepower alone does not tell you whether a pump is right for the pool. The useful starting point is whether the system benefits from adjustable circulation or genuinely needs a fixed-output pump.

AstralPool CTX single-speed pool pump
Single speedFixed output

A fixed-output pump for a defined job.

Single-speed pumps still make sense in some straightforward replacement or dedicated-duty applications. The key is matching the pump curve and hydraulic duty rather than simply copying the old horsepower figure.

Straightforward replacementCan suit uncomplicated systems where the required duty is known and adjustable speed adds little value.
Different hydraulic dutiesE-Series, CTX and XP cover very different levels of flow and pressure within the single-speed category.
Correct match still mattersFilter size, plumbing, heaters, spa equipment and cleaners can all affect the pump requirement.

The pump is part of a system

We do not select a replacement from horsepower alone.

The same motor rating can behave very differently from one pump family to another. We check the hydraulic duty and the equipment that depends on circulation before recommending the replacement.

01Plumbing & available flowPipework, suction layout, valves and system resistance affect what flow a pump can actually deliver.
02Filter & circulation dutyThe pump needs to suit the filter and provide appropriate circulation without simply overpowering the rest of the system.
03Heating & chlorinationHeat pumps, chlorinators and other equipment can have minimum or preferred flow requirements that influence the selection.
04Spa, cleaner & water featuresHigh-demand equipment can change the required head and flow substantially compared with filtration alone.

Replacement pump

Send us the existing setup. We can narrow the replacement down.

A pump label plus one wide equipment photo is usually enough to start. From there we can check the likely replacement against the filter, plumbing, chlorinator, heater and any other equipment that relies on circulation.

Pool pump FAQ

Questions worth answering before you replace a pump.

The pump has to work with the pool around it. These are the points that usually change the recommendation.

Not sure which pump you have?A clear photo of the pump label and one wider photo of the equipment area is usually enough for us to start.
Should I choose a variable-speed or single-speed pool pump?
It depends on how the pool operates. Variable-speed pumps allow different outputs for normal filtration and higher-flow tasks, and are often the first option worth considering for a residential upgrade. A single-speed pump can still suit a straightforward fixed-duty replacement. We check the complete system before recommending one over the other.
Can you replace my old pool pump with another brand?
Often, yes. We check the plumbing position, unions, available space, hydraulic requirement and connected equipment before confirming whether another brand is a sensible replacement.
Can I select a replacement pump from horsepower alone?
No. Horsepower is only one part of the comparison. Pumps with similar motor ratings can deliver different flow and pressure once connected to the actual pool system, so the replacement should be checked against the complete setup.
What do you need from me to quote a replacement pump?
Start with a photo of the current pump label and one wide photo showing the pump, filter, chlorinator, valves and nearby plumbing. Pool size and details of any heater, spa, cleaner, in-floor system or water feature are also useful.
Does Integra supply and install pool pumps?
Yes. Integra supplies and installs pool pumps across Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Maitland and surrounding service areas. Product availability and installation requirements are confirmed before the work is booked.
What replaces an older AstralPool BX pump?
XP is AstralPool’s current replacement range for BX. We still check the pump curve, unions, available space and electrical supply before recommending a model. Start with the XP product page or send us a photo of the old pump.
