The same size pool can need a different heating capacity depending on target temperature, swimming season, exposure, blanket use and installation conditions. We take those factors into account before recommending a model.
Getting pool heating right
Comfortable water starts with the right overall setup.
A well-planned heating setup combines the right heat pump, suitable circulation and sensible heat retention. When those three work together, the pool is easier to bring to temperature and keep there.
The heat pump needs enough water flow whenever heating is required, so the existing pump and controls need to work with it.
A fitted pool blanket reduces evaporation and overnight heat loss, helping the pool hold temperature for longer.

Heat-pump sizing
We size the heater around the job it needs to do.
A heater selected only from pool volume can be misleading. We want to know how warm you want the water, when you want to use the pool, how exposed the site is and whether the pool will be covered.
A pool blanket changes the heating load, so tell us if you already use one or intend to add one. That should be considered before the heat pump is selected.

Heating control
Let the heater run when it actually needs to.
On some single-pump systems, the filtration pump only runs when the chlorinator or existing timer calls for it. Where compatible, the Madimack MJ Box can allow the heat pump to call the circulation pump when heating is required.
Not every pool needs this controller. We check how your existing pump and chlorinator are set up and recommend it only when it will make the heating system easier to run properly.

Pool blankets & rollers
Hold onto more of the heat in your pool.
A heat pump warms the water; a pool blanket helps keep that warmth in the pool. Covering the water when it is not being used reduces evaporation and overnight heat loss, so the heater has less work to do to maintain your chosen temperature.

Every pool is different, but these are some of the questions customers ask us most often when planning a new heat-pump installation.
No, but an uncovered pool loses more heat through evaporation. If practical, we recommend considering a fitted blanket because blanket use affects the heating load and running time.
We look at pool volume, target temperature, swimming season, blanket use, site exposure, existing circulation equipment, heater position and electrical requirements rather than using pool litres alone.
No. It is useful on certain compatible single-pump systems where the heat pump needs a way to initiate circulation outside the normal filtration schedule. We assess the existing controls before recommending it.
